I was reading a book called, “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” by a British author, Lynne Truss. She is an advocate for English language who has “zero tolerance” for any “misuse of punctuation”. She proves her point by sharing, a short story and points out, how misuse of punctuation can change the whole meaning of any sentence.
The story goes like this…
“A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eat it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. “Why?” asked the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
“I am a panda,” he says, at he door. “Look it up.” The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.”Panda, large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots, and leaves.”
The correct way of writing should have been, “PANDA EATS SHOOTS AND LEAVES” and not “Eats, shoots, and leaves”.
After reading the book, just the thought of anyone reading my blog, scared me. And I wonder, if I’m even qualified to have a blog. As you may see, my punctuation skills somewhat, stinks. But if you can over look that, I’m here to share my personal thoughts on my favorite group, JYJ and the man named, PARK YUCHUN…
So, wish me luck as I venture out into the world of JYJ and Park Yuchun…!!
